Stree 2 Box Office: Rajkummar Rao – Shraddha Kapoor starrer has record breaking paid previews night, goes past even Chennai Express to emerge as the biggest ever

  • by

Back in 2013 when Chennai Express had arrived a night before for paid preview shows, it had set the record for the highest collections ever before the conventional release happened in theatres. The Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer directed by Rohit Shetty had collected Rs. 6.75 crores at just a few shows where the film was playing and for 11 long years, the record was unbeaten.

Well, who would have thought that one Wednesday night Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor would arrive with Amar Kaushik directed Stree 2 and they would end up setting a new record for the paid previews shows, and that too by a distance. As has been the case, the film has collected an astonishing Rs. 8 crores in just those 2–3-night shows at select theatres due to majority of them running at film capacity. This also further goes on to show that when audiences make up their mind to watch a film then they arrive in hordes even during a dull season.

That said, it won’t be dull now for many more weeks to come since the reports for the film are excellent as well, which means at the very least its extended weekend is sorted. For starters, the film will break all frontiers today due to National Holiday as well and honestly speaking, if not for the three-way clash with Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa then it would have pretty much aimed for even a 50 crores single day. While Rs. 40 crores should be crossed today, it could well have this milestone accomplished all over again on Sunday as well.

Note: All collections as per various box office sources
