It’s a 50 for Stree 2! In no time, the film has managed to score a half century and that too in style. While the film was always meant to take a start of at least Rs. 20 crores on Independence Day holiday, expectations zoomed to Rs. 25 crores post the release of the trailer. The film started heating up en route release and this is where Rs. 30 crores seemed like a possibility. The advance booking set the bar higher and now there were hush hush tones of even Rs. 35 crores on the cards.
However no one, read no one, was prepared for the film to find a start in the 40s. Rest assured, even those associated with the film wouldn’t have imagined that the film would turn out to be such a rage on the very opening day, so much so that it would behave like a solo big budget release and end up taking a start which is close to Rs. 50 crores on a single day.
What’s also needed is that a film also needs to have good reports to support such kind of mayhem and the confidence shown by the makers to bring the film on paid previews shows on Wednesday night was a testimony to that. From Rs. 9.40 crores in just Wednesday night shows, the film zoomed all the way up to Rs. 55.40 crores on Thursday and that has propelled the overall numbers to Rs. 64.80 crores. The film will keep collecting quite well today as well despite a drop on the cards due to the working day factor. But then it will rise all over again tomorrow, which means an entry into the Rs. 100 Crores Club is there for the taking.
Note: All collections as per various box office sources
