Bad Newz has stabilised fairly at the box office. The collections are turning out to be consistent due to steady footfalls in theatres, which have also been aided by BOGO. The same strategy was used by Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya as well, which was in the same zone, and that resulted in a relatively long run and healthy lifetime collections. Now, Bad Newz would be aiming for something similar as well, while also battling a slew of films that would be releasing in weeks to come.
The film ended up collecting Rs. 3.25 crores* at the box office on Wednesday and that’s decent considering Friday was Rs. 8.62 crores. Monday collections did drop to Rs. 3.75 crores but then prompt action by the makers to introduce BOGO meant that Tuesday, in fact, improved marginally to Rs. 3.80 crores. The offer is still continuing and hence even on Wednesday the drop is not much. That’s what expected today as well, which will result in an overall good week.
So far, the Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk starrer stands at Rs. 41.42 crores* and now Rs. 44 crores mark will be comfortably surpassed by the close of Week One. There is huge competition coming in the form of Deadpool and Wolverine, which will open quite well at an all India level. That means there would be a hit in collections on Friday for sure. However, romcom typically end up finding their audiences on Saturday again and that’s what should happen with this Anand Tiwari film as well.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
Note: All collections as per various box office sources
