Introduction:
The academic prowess of West Bengal’s students is once again in the spotlight with the announcement of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) Uccha Madhyamik (Class 12) results for 2024. An impressive 90% of students have emerged successful, painting a bright future for the state’s education landscape.
Stellar Performances:
Abhik Das stands at the pinnacle of this year’s success stories, having clinched the top position with a near-perfect score of 496 (99.2%) out of 500. Saumyadeep Saha trailed by a hair’s breadth at 495 marks (99%). A commendable count of 58 students has made it to the top 10, showcasing the competitive spirit and academic vigor prevalent among the youth.
Stream-wise Success:
The results have also highlighted the proficiency across streams with the Science stream leading the charge with a 97.19% pass rate. Commerce students have shown their mettle with a 96% success rate, followed closely by their peers in Arts/Humanities at 88.02%.
Accessing Results:
Students are encouraged to visit the official websites – wbchse.wb.gov.in and wbresults.nic.in, to check and download their scorecards. The anticipation and excitement that comes with result declarations can now be put to rest as students plan their next steps in their educational journeys.

- 22.38% of students scored 70% and above
- 8.47% of students scored 80% and above

Support for Students:
Hard copies of the HS mark sheets and pass certificates can be obtained from 55 distribution centers, including the four regional offices of the Council, starting from May 10. Furthermore, a result tatkal service for revaluation requests will be available from May 10 to 13, offering students the necessary support and clarity they seek post-results.
Examination Statistics:
The Class 12 board exams, which were conducted from February 16 to 29, witnessed 7,55,324 regular candidates taking up the challenge at over 2,675 exam centers.
Gender Performance:
Continuing the trend from the previous year, boys have outshined girls with a pass rate of 91.86%, compared to 87.26% for girls, indicating a competitive edge in academic achievement.
Looking Back:
Reflecting on the previous year, out of the 8,52,444 students who registered for the Uccha Madhyamik exams, 8,24,891 appeared, and a remarkable 7,37,807 passed, setting a high benchmark for the current batch.
